Mama Beldi

Mama Beldi, an enchanting restaurant for the palate and senses.

With fifteen years’ experience of tables d’hôte at Riad Chamali, we are now offering at our new Moroccan restaurant, a cuisine for all gourmands staying in Marrakesh

At lunchtime or for dinner, come and discover the tastes of our typically Moroccan dishes, prepared with love and know-how.  All our products are fresh and locally sourced.  Where ever possible, we favour producers who take up organic farming, which is increasingly popular in Morocco.

To experience Mama Beldi, is to discover the quality and authenticity of Moroccan cuisine, imbued with its typically delicate spices.  Four rooms welcome you: the tables are low, the seating light and comfortable.  The walls are decorated with ochre mud brick, or whitewash, the Tataoui ceilings have been traditionally crafted in wood and bamboo using ancient building techniques.  The crystal chandelier lighting gives a modern touch to the very ‘beldi’ decoration.

A menu of the day is offered, showcasing the best produce from the market, and the restaurant’s à la carte menu, with our great classic dishes, is also available.

You can enjoy the musical ambiance every Friday and Saturday evening with Andalusian, Berber or Ganoua musicians.

On Sundays there is brunch for late-risers.  A Moroccan breakfast is served every other day of the week.

Our Moroccan pastries, adapted to suit our sugar-sensitive palates, are made by women from the Berrima neighbourhood.  This collaboration helps to develop links between our establishment and the local female population, often far away from the tourist boom of Marrakesh.

A food wastage compost project is underway, in partnership with a local organic vegetable producer.

The restaurant can be hired for festive events.

Our kitchen team are keen to share their expertise: we offer Moroccan cooking workshops, followed by the opportunity to taste the fruits of your culinary efforts.

Opening Hours: from 9am until 11pm, seven days a week.

Should you wish to, you might also make the taste experience last longer by spending the night at our guest house, so to sample our traditional Moroccan breakfast (depending on the availability of Riad Chamali).

49 Bis, Derb Zemrane, quartier Berrima
Mama Beldi is situated in the Berrima neighbourhood, south of the Medina, fifteen minutes from Jemaa el-Fna Square via the shopping street Zitoun El Kedim. As we are only accessible on foot by a 100 metre pedestrianised street from the car park, you are guaranteed peace and quiet.
The Berrima neighbourhood is right next to the old Jewish Quarter: built around a Mosque, a bread oven, a school and a hammam.
There are many places of interest nearby: the old Badii Palace, which dates back to 16th Century, the Saadien Tombs, the Mellah with its Jewish Cemetery, or Miaâra, which offers you a moment of total tranquillity, the Bahia Palace, the Tinsmiths Square. And to take you back to the famous Jemma el-Fna Square, take the pedestrianised street Zitoun Kedim.
